Election of Parish Councillors – 2nd May 2019

Following the close of nominations on 3rd April, only 9 residents were nominated to stand and with 13 councillor places to fill, Barton-le-Clay Parish Council was an Uncontested Election and all those who stood were duly elected. Residents are now able to be Co-opted to join the Parish Council to fill the vacant seats. Please contact the Parish Office or email the Parish Clerk for further information.

We are sad to announce the death of our Chairman, Councillor David Gunter.  He served as a Parish Councillor for 4 years, the latter 2 being Chairman of the Parish Council.  Our thoughts are with his family.

Temporary Footpath Closure

Please note that footpath number 4, from Church Road to the eastern edge of Arnold Recreation Ground, will be closed from Monday 15th April to Friday 19th April. Barton’s Horticultural Show – 7th September 2019

This year show will be held on Saturday 7th September, 2.30 pm at the Village Hall.  Classes include vegetables/fruit/flowers, baking, reserve making, crafts, flower arranging, photography and children’s classes.    Show schedules are available in the Parish office or click on the following link Horticultural Show 2019 schedule A5 horticultural show 2019 poster

New Swings for Arnold Recreation Ground play area

Thank you to all those who responded to our recent Facebook survey on play equipment.  We are pleased to announce that our grant application from the National Lottery Community Fund was successful and £9,871 has been awarded. In addition Barton Conservation Group kindly donated £500 towards play equipment.  Installation work will begin on TUESDAY 26TH MARCH and will take approximately 1 week to complete.  Please note that whilst the work is being carried out the play area will be CLOSED (Tuesday 26th March – Tuesday 2nd April).

The Norman Road play area will be open as usual. It is located down the alleyway off Norman Road (between Stuart Road and Cromwell Road). Please see map below  Please note this area is suitable for under 12s only.

04/03/19 to 15/3/19 – Temporary Road Closure – Barton Bypass

We have been advised that the Barton Bypass will be closed from Monday 4th March to Friday 15th March from 20:00 to 06:00, for carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. 26/02/19 to 27/02/19 -Temporary Road Closure – Harlington Road, Sharpenhoe

We have been advised that Harlington Road, Sharpenhoe will be closed Tuesday 26th to Wednesday 27th February from 08:00 to 18:00, for remedial work to be undertaken as part of the texture blasting works. We have been advised that Manor Road  will be closed between Whitehill Road to outside of 74 Manor Road from Monday 26th November to Wednesday 28th November 09:00 to 15:00, for gully replacement work to be undertaken. 25/11/18 -Temporary Road Closure – Bedford Road for Christmas Lights Switch-on Event

Bedford Road, between Sharpenhoe Road and Manor Road, will be closed on Sunday 25th November between 16:00 and 19:00 to allow for the Christmas Lights Switch-on Event. 23/11/18 & 24/11/2018 -Temporary Road Closure -Barton Hill Road, Streatley

Notice of Removal of Glass from the Burial Ground

The Parish Council has a regulation that NO GLASS is permitted within the Burial Ground.  This policy is in place to ensure safe working for our contractors.

The Parish Council will be removing any glassware, week commencing 12th November 2018.  All glass removed will be stored for 2 months and can be collected from the Parish office between 10am – 12 noon Monday to Friday.  Please note that any items not collected within the above period will be disposed of.

Remembrance Sunday – 11th November 2018

The morning services will take place at 10.55am at the War Memorial, Hexton Road.  You are asked to convene from 10.40am for the short Act of Remembrance to start at 10.55am.  This will be followed by a church service at St Nicholas Church – see attached poster.      Remembrance Sunday Poster 2018

UPDATE 19/9/18 -Temporary Road Closure – Barton Bypass
